Celebrating Community Health: UMass Memorial Health and GrotonFest
The UMass Memorial Health team has been a wonderful partner in helping bring both wellness and fun to the GrotonFest Family of Festivals. As a dedicated leader in community health, UMass Memorial is committed to supporting the well-being of Groton and the surrounding region—and their presence at GrotonFest has been a meaningful part of that mission.
Connecting with the Community
Throughout the festival season, the UMass Memorial team brought their mobile health truck to both GrotonFest Spring and GrotonFest Fall, creating a welcoming space where community members could stop by, ask questions, and learn more about the healthcare resources available to them.
Their team took the time to speak with residents, share information about upcoming services, and connect with families in a friendly, approachable way. One of the exciting topics they discussed with visitors was the new Satellite Emergency Facility planned for Groton, expected to open at 490 Main Street in Fall 2026. The upcoming facility represents an important step toward expanding accessible emergency care and strengthening healthcare support for the local community.
By bringing their mobile truck to the festivals, UMass Memorial made it easy for residents to learn more about these developments while enjoying a day of celebration with neighbors and friends.
Adding Fun to the Festival
UMass Memorial Health didn’t just focus on health education—they also helped bring playful energy to the festivals.
At GrotonFest Fall, they sponsored a lively sack race that had both kids and adults cheering, laughing, and jumping their way toward the finish line. The race quickly became a crowd favorite and reminded everyone how simple games can bring people together in joyful competition.
Spreading Holiday Cheer
During GrotonFest Winter, UMass Memorial Health continued their support of the community by sponsoring Santa’s Helpers, who wrapped gifts for festival-goers purchasing items from the artisanal vendors. It was a thoughtful touch that added warmth and convenience to the holiday festival while supporting local makers and spreading a little extra seasonal cheer.
Supporting a Healthy, Connected Community
UMass Memorial Health’s presence at GrotonFest reflects their broader commitment to building healthier communities—not only through medical care, but through engagement, education, and meaningful connections with residents.
Their willingness to meet people where they are—right in the heart of community events—helps make healthcare information more accessible and approachable for everyone.
We are grateful for their partnership and for the many ways they support the people of Groton. As we look ahead to the opening of their new facility in 2026, we are excited to see how their continued presence will help strengthen the health and well-being of our town.
